Photography involves a sharing, an exchange, a give and take.

Hello, my name is Scotland and I'm the owner of Give and Take Pictures.

A little about me, I was born in a town nestled against farmland on the outskirts of Philadelphia. I first discovered the camera as a young child, but didn't begin a real exploration with it until my studies in philosophy left me feeling detached and unable to communicate with the world around me. While spending a year studying philosophy at Oxford University, I found photography able to reach some of the ideas I found incomplete in the classroom.

Since that time, I've used my passion for storytelling to document weddings, photograph families, and create photo projects. I've been able to photograph over 100 weddings since beginning in 2009, and I received my training from New England School of Photography. I'm always excited about the challenge of simultaneously telling stories accurately and beautifully.

In addition to my work as a photographer, my full-time vocation is as the Chief Communications Officer at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation in Pittsburgh, PA.

I'm a very proud husband & father, and I particularly enjoy biking, anything passion fruit flavored, Philadelphia sports, and making playlists on spotify. Madeleine L'Engle has taught me half the things I know about life. I firmly believe that the best soundtrack is a combination of Wilco, Jon Foreman, and Paul Simon.
